TOZI FABA LEAVES PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT

Chief Director in the Office of the Premier Communications and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr Thozama Faba, will at the end of November
leave the provincial government to assume a new post as national manager - corporate relations at African Bank in Midrand.

Mr Faba is one of many leaders from the Eastern Cape who are recruited by the private sector and national government to key positions and
to lead in central projects. African Bank approached Mr Faba for this senior post.

Among other things, his duties would comprise maintenance, ensuring smooth running and development of the national corporate relations
department with a special focus on national, provincial and local governments as well as parastatals.

Mr Faba graduated with BA Honours majoring in Public Admin from the University of Port Elizabeth and obtained an MA in Policy Studies from
Universities of Fort Hare and Zimbabwe. There is a range of other courses that he has attended and has travelled extensively
internationally.

His professional career started in the classroom in 1977 where he taught in Mpeko Senior Secondary School in the former Transkei. Between
1980 and 1994 he had worked for the University of Port Elizabeth, the Port Elizabeth Municipality, the Department of Education and Training
and Vista University.

He stared working for the Office of the Premier in 1994 when he was appointed as a director for Administration. In 1995 he became the
Deputy Permanent Secretary (Chief Director) for Management and Administrative Services subsequent to that, between 1997 and 1998, he acted
as the head of department (Permanent Secretary) Office of the Premier. In 1998 he was appointed to his current post, as the Chief Director.

Mr Faba said nothing precipitated his leaving the Provincial Government. It is just a change of environment and atmosphere, he said. The
Eastern Cape Director General, Dr Mvuyo Tom, dismissed rumours that there were plans to send Mr Faba to Port Elizabeth as a Regional
Director as untrue.
